Whilst undoubtably on the lower side of odd for this particular environ, is it just me or has there been a certain lyrical upswing of late? A cursory inspection of the journals has revealed no less than three separate instances of inexplicable poesy, with some indication on the part of the participants that it is less than voluntary. Which strikes me as mildly, how should I put it . . . weird as sod.

Now, now, my dear, you must not be so rude,
nor coarse and vulgar, e'en though you use 'dude'.
Free verse is too poetry, thought lacking
in rhyme, rhythm or melodic backing.
I'd threaten assignments both large and dire
but now I want poems tossed in a fire.
